New Unleash the Book Inside workshop dates

a5-sideFollowing the recent success of the Unleash the Book Inside workshop, we are pleased to announce new dates.

See here for the feedback from previous attendees

From its initial inception as a creative writing course, the workshop has now grown into a whole new concept.

Not only do aspiring authors get to learn about the publishing industry but also they will leave with an amazing array of new skills and learning a new way of thinking, being and doing ….

In the workshop, authors will define and design their book structure and their writing, publication and marketing plans. They will also learn the skills of Whole Brain and Whole Mind Thinking.

Tom Evans uses mind maps to get authors to see the world in a whole new way by opening up new neural pathways in their brains.

During the two day course, Tom takes authors on guided visualisations to help them tap into their creative muse.  He also demonstrates where light bulb moments come from and how to tap into them on demand to get your book to virtually write itself.

Tom will also show you the many ways to publish your book for free and how you can develop significant passive revenue streams.

The workshop is running in Surrey on the 30th September & 1st October.

There are only 20 places available and the first 10 people to book get the early bird price and catch the worm …..

If you want to get published IN 2009, this workshop will show you how !!!!

How to write a book and get it published

tbwGuideToWritingYourBook_220I am discovering more and more recently  that it’s not just aspiring authors wanting to write their first book who need my help the most. It’s also authors who may be on their 2nd or 3rd book and are stuck for inspiration and held back by the dreaded ‘writers block’.

I’ve also having great success with those that hadn’t seriously considered writing a book before but who I have helped to unleash their creative writing talent and to build the confidence to get stuck in and have a go (and many have gone on to write and publish their first book)!

And although I have been blogging for ages and sharing chunks of my knowledge and experience about book writing & publishing and creativity, until now I hadn’t put it all together into a neat and easy to read little ebook that summarises the basic but fundamental steps to writing and publishing your book.

So here it is at last, and it’s called, funnily enough, “How to write a book and get published”.  It does what it says on the tin.

What’s in the book?

  • How to write a great book
  • When to write your book
  • The pros and cons of the four routes to publication
  • Loads of useful links to resources for authors

And the good news is you can download it – absolutely free!

I hope you enjoy and I’d be really grateful for your feedback and suggestions.

How to remove writer’s block in two days

The Book InsideBudding authors in Guildford are invited to join a unique workshop which promises to give them the tools to start their book within two days, and help kick-start a new career as a published author.

The innovative workshop, Unleash the Book Inside You, is being delivered for the fifth time in the area by author, poet and mentor Tom Evans on the 20-21st October in Guildford.

Tom created this successful workshop with the aim of helping would-be authors overcome some of the commonest obstacles to launching their career, the difficulty focusing the mind and the dreaded writer’s block.

Tom said, “They say there’s a book in everyone but, for most people, the thought of writing their best seller is so daunting they simply never start. Another reason people don’t pick up their pen is because they think they simply don’t have the time. There is a way though. The human mind is so powerful that your book can virtually write itself without your conscious control.”

He became fascinated with the phenomena of the ‘light bulb moment’ which set him on the creative road to publishing success. As an engineer, he started to research where they came from and how the mind generates them.

With what he then learned, he discovered how he can teach others so they can tap into those precious and magical ‘light bulb moments’.

He said, “The key to getting your book to write itself is to engage in “whole brain thinking”. Tom uses mind maps extensively to help authors synchronise both brain hemispheres. The left hemisphere is great at being logical and saying things like “don’t be stupid, you don’t have time to write a book and who would be interested in reading it anyway?”

“By mind mapping, this logical left hemisphere is kept happy as it has a structure to deal with. The right hemisphere can then unleash its creative juices while the left is kept busy. “

“With both hemispheres working in harmony, authors are then helped even further by introducing them to guided meditations to quieten the conscious mind and give them access to their unconscious.”

With the whole mind working in harmony, Tom then weaves some more magic to get the authors to tap into inspiration.

The whole process, which can sometimes include techniques such as Time Line Therapy and even Past Life Regression, helps authors find their guiding motivation, book title, plot lines and ‘words that write themselves.

The positive feedback to date for the course has been outstanding.

One client summed up the experience thus, “There is no other way to write a book. Tom injects a certain magic to the whole process. From thinking I couldn’t write a book to suddenly finding the words flowing was fantastic. An excellent balance of structure and creativity. Loads of practical info on how to write and get published.”

Note that the workshop is also available as a correspondence course at the same price – and the course can of course be taken anywhere in the world.

Creating your Marketplace on Lulu

lulu logoLulu is possibly best known for its print-on-demand service which provides a cost effective self-publishing option for authors. There is no doubt that print-on-demand is not only a serious option for any author but it also is a green option. It means there is less pulping of books and the ability to test market short runs.

Slightly less publicised and obvious, is their facility to host your own customised marketplace. This is especially useful to authors without their own web presence or the ability to take revenue on-line.

You can create paperback and hardback books on the fly from your own documents or sell digital media such as audio books and PDF’s.

They also have several interesting marketing promotional tools and your home page can display RSS feeds (such as this one)

In the usual “Blue Peter” tradition, here’s one I made earlier where the e-versions of the 100 Years of Ermintrude series can be purchased.
